Clindamycin Inj 300mg/ 2ml- It is a prescription injection which is used to treat serious bacterial infections of blood, lungs, skin, abdomen, and soft tissues. The medicine works by blocking bacterial protein synthesis. It is administered via IV or IM injection.

Clindamycin injection is a highly credible, clinically trusted, and widely used parenteral antibiotic. This is primarily valued for its efficacy towards serious gram-positive and anaerobic bacterial infections. It is a lincosamide antibiotic that is considered as a cornerstone treatment in hospitals when penicilin cannot be.

Clindamycin is known for its ability to penetrate deep into tissues including bones, and is highly concentrated within phagocytes.

Medxone Healthcare supplies this injection under the brand name Clinxone 300 . The injection is commonly used as a surgical prophylactic agent in operating rooms to prevent infection, often in cases where cefazolin is not suitable.

Mechanism of Clindamycin Injection

Clindamycin binds to the 23S RNA of the 50S ribosomal subunit, which interrupts the translation process. It is highly effective against anaerobic bacteria and gram-positive aerobes, including Sreptococcus pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, and Clostridium perfringens.

Although it is infected as Clindamycin phosphate, it is rapidly hydrolysed in vivo to the active, free clindamycin molecule.

It is resistant to commonly occurring via modification of the 23S ribosomal RNA, which can also lead to cross-resistance with macrolides and streptogramin B. By blocking protein production, it also helps in reduction of production of bacterial toxins.

Benefits of Clindamycin Injection

  • As a parenteral medication, it acts almost immediately with noticeable improvement within 1 hour.
  • It is effective against Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and various anaerobic bacteria, including some MRSA cases.
  • It is used for serious infections, including intra-abdominal infections, pelvic inflammatory disease, septicemia, and bone/joint infections.

  • It reduces the risk of severe, long-term health problems caused by spreading infections.
