The dual action formula of Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam is used for the treatment of bacterial infections. It belongs to a category of medicines called antibiotics. Cefoperazone + Sulbactam injection is highly beneficial in the treatment of respiratory tract (lungs) infection, urine infection, blood infection, meningitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord), gonorrhea (sexually transmitted disease), skin, abdominal, bone, and joint infections where medication cannot be orally prescribed. Bacterial infections usually occur when harmful bacteria invade our system and multiply in large numbers causing infections in various parts of the body. Cefoperazone + Sulbactam injection is not beneficial in the treatment of viral infections such as the common cold and viral allergies.

The combination medicine is composed of Cefoperazone and Sulbactam whose dual action treats bacterial infection. Cefoperazone is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefoperazone against bacteria.

The prescribed dosage of Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam Injection is highly beneficial in the treatment of various bacterial infections such as respiratory tract (lungs) infection, urine infection, blood infection, meningitis (inflammation of the brain and spinal cord), gonorrhea (sexually transmitted disease), skin, abdominal, bone, and joint infections.

Side Effects of Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam Injection

Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam Injection has mostly mild to moderate side effects that get resolved over time.   • Decreased white blood cell count (neutrophils)

  • Low blood platelets
  • Coagulation disorder
  • Increased white blood cell count (eosinophils)

  • Increased alanine aminotransferase

  • Vomiting
  • Increased bilirubin in the blood

Safety Precautions and Warnings 

1. Avoid consuming alcohol with Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam Injection as it may cause adverse side effects. 

2. Do not take Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam Injection without a doctor’s consultation if you are pregnant or breastfeeding your baby. 

3. Store the Cefoperazone+ Sulbactam Injection in a cool and dry place away from direct sunlight. 

4. Stop taking Cefoperazone + Sulbactam injection if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or breathing difficulties while taking it. 

5. Keep the Cefoperazone + Sulbactam injection out of reach of children and pets. Properly dispose of expired and discarded medicines.
